Romare Bearden Park, Charlotte, NC is named after a prominent artist who was born there in 1911. He died in NYC in 1988 where he’d lived for many years after relocating there with his parents as a young man. His influential parents were part of the Harlem Renaissance of the 1920’s early 30’s. The New York Times called Bearden “one of America’s pre-eminent artists” and “the nation’s foremost collagist.” We are thrilled to be performing at a park bearing the name of this great man, artist and writer at an event presented by Mecklenberg County Park & Recreation.
