The History of Zydeco @ New Orleans Jazz Fest

From New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival:

“Zydeco music has been a key part of Jazz Fest since 1970. All the great zydeco performers have graced the Festival’s stages.” #jazzfest50

Everyone is def bummed that The Stones and Fleetwood Mac could not make it for JF50- not as bummed as FPI – the event producer – is though.

BUT you can be 100% certain that zydeco will be there – representin, like it has every single year for 49 of 50! Yup.

Btw, it’s our 34th consecutive JF performance – representing Creole and African American culture, Louisiana and the music heritage of the American south. Yeah man, let’s do No. 50 together y’all!

Terrance will also be representing zydeco music history & culture at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation gala in New Orleans this year. He’s deeply honored to be part of this prestigious event that kicks off the fest every year.

The gala helps fund the foundation year round work & projects that gives back to the community and also employs many Louisiana artists. It’s why we contribute to the foundation annually – to give back to them for giving us so much over the years.

NOTE: the music on this slideshow is from the late great Stanley “Buckwheat” Dural, Jr.
