Yep, you got it right! Terrance offers cooking demonstrations while on tour! It first became popular at a residency we did many years ago, and it continues to be a highlight of his residency work. Let’s face it the food and the music of Louisiana are inextricably intertwined, like in many cultures around the world. Culinary traditions are vital to cultural identity.
So, if you can carve out an extra day before or after one of our scheduled tour performances, let us know. If you’d like to do a virtual cooking demo, we can that too! We promise it will still be loads of fun! If you’re looking for a crazy unique gift for that special person – who might just flip out having Terrance in their kitchen singing to them in French – we’d love to plot and scheme with you to make it happen!
Terrance will bring along some key ingredients that are essential for this memorable cultural and culinary experience, but most of the ingredients will be sourced locally. Easy shopping items: free range/organic chicken, local seafood, vegetables, all the cooking utensils, pots and pans, etc.
He’ll break out his accordion and even possibly show you his rubboard skills while the gumbo simmers. He’ll come well stocked with stories of his family and his Creole cultural traditions. He’ll season the gumbo or the sauce piquant with some colorful French expressions.
You provide the space in your own kitchen, a restaurant or a culinary school – and he’ll take it from there!
