It was a memorable Saturday morning for Terrance and 80 very smart and curious young people in the middle of winter in New Hampshire recently. Simien was a guest artist for a day of cultural exploration at Revels North Kids. The participants ranged from ages 5-13 and the experience was very moving for Terrance, as are most of his educational outreach experiences. They all left quite a impression on him and seems he did on them as well. A parent of one of the girls wrote this to us in an email:
“I am wondering if there is a fan mail address for Mr. Simien? My daughter was part of the Revel’s Kid yesterday (Feb 8, 2014 in Hanover NH) in which Simien introduced his culture and music to the children. She is hoping to send a thank you note to him for the experience. She is now in love with Creole, Zydeco, and thinks Simien is such a nice person. It is a great feeling for a parent to have someone uplift new dreams and passions in their child. Thank you, Alison T.”
The Valley News also wrote this fantastic piece. Terrance_Simien_-_Valley_News_2.9.14. We applaud the parents and community of Hanover, NH for raising such informative and articulate children. It takes a village and this village is doing it right, like so many are around the globe that we’ve been privileged to witness!
