In 2024 both Disneyland and Walt Disney World theme parks opened a new exciting ride “Tiana’s Bayou Adventure” based on the historical 2009 film, “The Princess and the Frog”
Simien and his band of excellent music makers contributed their unique sound to the ride, with Marcella Simien also singing background vocals on a brand new studio version of “Gonna Take You There” from the film and recorded specifically for the new ride. It’s also available on a Spotify soundtrack.
This ride with a ft zydeco band full of new colorful critters like (see above) Gritty the girl rubboard player and Apollo the accordion player, is another wonderful gift from Disney and a tool for our toolbox. This ride celebrates the unique culture of Louisiana, shines a light on and will educate millions more families about zydeco music.
