Terrance, Danny, Stan and Jose (formerly of the Zydeco Experience band) were honored to have accepted the GRAMMY ™ for their “Dockside Sessions” CD in the Best Regional Roots Album category on January 26, 2014 at the Nokia Theatre right before the televised show at Staples Center. The PreTelecast, is where 72 GRAMMY awards are given in the afternoon during the “Prelude to the Biggest Night in Music” and streaming for the next 30 days. Terrance and the boyz are honored beyond words to receive this award and forever grateful to the voting members of the Recording Academy who supported this independent release. However, they believe music is an expression and not a competition, making it very difficult for them to have competeed against people they love and respect; accomplished artists like Zachary Richard and Hot 8 Brass Band and are humbled to have been nominated alongside them as well as Joe Tohonnie, Jr and Kahulanui. Marcella Simien was also on hand at the GRAMMYs to share the joy and accomplishments, as her contribution to Dockside Sessions was immeasurable. Big congrats also to “Dockside Sessions” producer George G. Receli and master engineer David Farrell, dear friends and Dockside Studio owners Steve and Cezanne “Wish” Nails, special musical guests Shannon McNally and Kenny Wayne Shepherd, and lastly Kerry Boutte who reconnected George & Terrance for this recording project. As if it could not have gotten any better-it did y’all! The King of Zydeco, the late great Clifton Chenier was given a GRAMMY™ Lifetime Achievement award in the same ceremony as the Beatles, Kris Kristoferson and the Isley Brothers. Wowee-what an incredible way for zydeco to start off the new year!
