Now this is good news, y’all!
We’ve had some amazing experiences with this organization that has funded (an artist grant) travel for several international events we’ve done. With this presenter grant, they have proven once again how committed they are to DEI in the performing arts. And we could not be more grateful or honored!
Just look at the performances they are funding for 2022-2023: the prestigious Paul Taylor Dance Company, Soweto Gospel Choir, Urban Bush Women, a tribute to Alice Coltrane, several classical music performances- and US! Diversity galore!
This year the grant review panelists placed as much value on our zydeco roots music, Creole culture and our performances as dance and classical music.
As you can see we are the only roots music performance to receive funding for these presenters in the Mid Atlantic area! Big shout out to our new friends and righteous women, Adrienne and Marit, and their extraordinary team at George Mason University in Manassas, VA. You see, they were the lead presenter who did the heavy lifting for this grant opportunity, working with the others who came onto this block booking grant opportunity.
We all know how important block booking is now more than ever, and with this ArtsCONNECT grant program, MAAF is sending a message that they do too – by supporting presenters who are.
We’d like more of this block booking please – all around the country!
We promise to work really hard to show MAAF how much we appreciate their support.
