Wow, what a wildly wonderful wrap on 2014 and a beautiful beginning to 2015! You too? Our NYE day started at the New Orleans Audubon Zoo for a noon countdown and Auld Lang Syne with 1000 children and parents celebrating the New Year. It was a gorgeous, cold day after a week of non stop rain. What a fitting performance to end our year-it’s what we do all over the country and rarely do we have the opportunity to perform for our own youth and family audiences. Many thanks to White Oak Productions, Becky Fradella and the zoo events planning team for the inspiring and joyful experience. What an amazing start to a memorable day. The evening festivities could not have ended 2014 more perfectly. It was a clear, cold night in front of the beautiful St. Louis Cathedral at Jackson Square in New Orleans. The audience of 15-20,000 was amazing. They were hip, considerate, so into the celebration and being together. They hunkered down for hours in front of the stage for both Big Sam’s Funky Nation and our performances. The racially diverse, visitor and local audience was clearly there to enjoy the music (as well as the fantastic fireworks display over the river) and we so appreciated them for that. We were even more thrilled to be a featured part of the CNN NYE coverage from Times Square with Anderson Cooper and Kathy Griffin; Havana, Cuba; Memphis, TN and Key West, FL. It was very exciting to hear our own Don Lemond, CNN news anchor from Baton Rouge and Brooke Baldwin, talk so favorably and knowledgeably about the music, mentioning the band name many times throughout their lively, celebratory coverage. What a good, good night it was! Wishing all of our friends and healthy and happy 2015!
