A world of thanks to Paul Simon for keeping zydeco music and Creole culture on his set list and on TV! Wow, how perfect is his timing, right before #jazzfest50 where zydeco has been ft. since 1070! Terrance had the privilege of working with him during this “Graceland” project.
It was March of 1985 and PS even took a moment to mentor the young Simien, who was one of the most exciting, young, emerging artists of that period. TS will never forget those moments. Rockin Dopsie, Sr. recorded on the song, and Richard Landry helped connect Paul Simon to our zydeco music heritage, helping make more history for the culture. Love Colbert on the board and Jon Batiste on the squeezebox.
“standing on the corner of Lafayette, state of Louisiana, watching the Cajun girls dancing to zydeco” or “listening to Clifton Chenier, king of bayou.”
A couple years later, in 1991, Terrance joined Paul Simon on stage at the Cajundome in LFT with CJ Chenier, both of them playing accordion during the concert. Another night to remember!
